Grief
What loss actually feels like, what helped me, what didn't, and how we begin building a life around something we cannot change.
ABOUT MIND NOURISH
I'm Peter Thomas, founder of Mind Nourish. My work is about helping people rebuild themselves — physically and mentally — through practical ideas around grief, nutrition, health and wellbeing.
Real Life. Real Health. Living Better.

MY STORY
In 2021, my wife Clare died from cancer.
Losing her changed my life completely. I wasn't only dealing with grief; I was trying to work out how to carry on, look after my family and somehow build a life around something that I had never expected to happen.
There wasn't a neat moment when everything suddenly became okay. Rebuilding happened gradually.
I learned to cook. I changed the way I ate. I became increasingly interested in nutrition and health. I ran, walked and spent more time outdoors. I wrote about what I was experiencing. I learned more about grief and wellbeing, and I started sharing some of those experiences with other people.
Slowly, all of those seemingly separate things started to become part of the same idea: how do we build ourselves back up when life knocks us down?
WHY MIND NOURISH EXISTS
One of the biggest things I've learned is that our physical and mental lives aren't separate.
What we eat matters. Moving our bodies matters. Sleep, habits, relationships and having something to look forward to matter. And when we're dealing with grief or another major change in life, even very small improvements can make a difference.
That's why Mind Nourish isn't just about grief.
It's about the wider process of rebuilding yourself — mind and body — and finding practical ways to live a healthier, stronger and happier life.
WHAT I TALK ABOUT
What loss actually feels like, what helped me, what didn't, and how we begin building a life around something we cannot change.
Practical ideas about food and eating well, particularly when life is difficult and looking after yourself doesn't feel easy.
Exercise, movement, everyday habits and the choices that can help us become physically stronger and healthier.
The bigger picture — purpose, resilience, connection, new experiences and creating a life that you actually want to live.
MY APPROACH
I'm not interested in pretending that there is a perfect morning routine, supplement or inspirational quote that fixes everything.
Life can be brilliant. It can also be messy, unpredictable and incredibly difficult.
My approach is to talk honestly about both — and share practical things that people can actually use in their own lives.
Some of that comes from my own experience. Some comes from what I've learned through studying nutrition, health and personal development. And some comes simply from continuing to experiment, learn and live.
WHAT I DO
Mind Nourish now brings those ideas together in different ways.
Honest, practical sessions for businesses, organisations and communities around grief, health, wellbeing and rebuilding.
Individual conversations for people who want practical support making changes in their own lives.
Books, guides and practical resources including The Grief Kitchen and my free grief guide.
Videos, articles and real-life experiences about grief, nutrition, fitness, health and wellbeing.
WHEREVER YOU'RE STARTING FROM
Sometimes living better starts with something very small — cooking a decent meal, going for a walk, talking to somebody, trying something new or simply deciding that tomorrow can be different from today.
That's what Mind Nourish is about.
